A displaying male Tiny-tyrant manakin with erected crest on a small branch in the Ralleigh Falls nature reserve, photographed by Carla Out in November 2007. The bird is often heard in the rainforest ("Nicky the Greek" it seems to call) in lowland Suriname, but not so often seen, especially not in this display posture. Steven Wytema also recorded this sound of the tiny tyrant-manakin. It is not heard and thus almost never seen from June to August as you can see in the graph below:

Distribution of the observations (visual, hearing) of the tiny tyarnt manakin over the months.
Each small square indicates the observation of at least one (group) of these birds, the medium ones at least 4 observations on different days and the largest ones 10 or more. The color of each square indicates: blue for coastal area, yellow for savanna and red for rainforest.
