Pale-eyed ThrushBirds in Suriname

Pale-eyed Thrush

A female Pale-eyed thrush was captured by a group of ornithologists of the Yale University Peabody Museum, working near the top of the Tafelberg in September 2009. Among them John Mittermeier (photograph) and Krystow Zyskowski. The Pale-eyed Thrush has never before been noticed in Suriname. This female has a grey belly and dull yellow legs, she strongly resembles the female Yellow-legged thrush, but has no yellow eye-ring. It is usually very shy and is found at higher elevations. Maybe it moves around seasonally, as in Venezuela it was not collected in September and October(cf. Steven Hily)

Each small square indicates the observation of at least one (group) of these birds, the medium ones at least 4 observations on different days and the largest ones 10 or more. The color of each square indicates: blue for coastal area, yellow for savanna and red for rainforest.
