Photos of a buff-breasted wren, made by Dominiek Plouvier in Peperpot plantation in November 2008 and by Carl Beel at the same place. The wren on the first photo was taking a dust-bath, what will possibly protect him against birdlice, a habit known from other wren species, like some that live in dry surroundings. On the photo you can see the 'white ear', giving its name in Dutch and French. The Buff-breasted Wren is often heard, it has a loud song, but most of the time it keeps hiding in thickets and is difficult to see. It is heard in all kind of places with undergrowth, on the sandridges in wasteland and along forest edges. The sound of a buff-breasted wren recorded by Jan Hein Ribot in 1984.
