Photo of a male dusky-throated antshrike made by Brian O'Shea in the Ralleigh Falls nature reserve in 2002. The male is totally blue-grey with a black throat and lighter underparts. The female is more brown-yellow. It is common in the forests of the interior of Suriname, where you regularly can hear the sound of this antshrike, recorded by Otte Ottema near the Coesewijne.

Each small square indicates the observation of at least one (group) of these birds in Surinam, the medium ones at least 4 observations on different days and the largest ones 10 or more. The color of each square indicates: blue for coastal area, yellow for savanna and red for rainforest.
