Progne in Suriname, part twoBirds in Suriname

Below are some pictures of Martins that are at the moment unidentifiable for us. They were taken in the coastal area of Suriname on the dates provided with the photo. All birds were found in a roosting place with sometimes 100,000 Martins. We invite birders to send their comment to the rarity committee for birds in Suriname with adress: research@stinasu.sr . All pictures were taken in Suriname's coastal area, unless indicated otherwise. There, large flocks of Grey-breasted mixed with other martins assemble in open terrain with electricity wires, sometimes up to 100.000 birds and the flocks stay for a long time.
Definite records in the form of specimens of the following Martins are known for Suriname: Progne chalybea chalybea (breeding), P. chalybea macrorhamphus (austral migrant), P. elegans (austral migrant) and P. tapera tapera (breeding). Identification via photos was made of Progne dominicensis (boreal migrant) and Progne subis (also a boreal migrant) and Progne tapera fusca (austral migrant). A survey of the identified Martin photos is shown in part one.
