Photo of a small group of black-headed parrots in a tree on Fungu island in the Raleighfalls nature reserve in Suriname, made by Candy McManiman and an even more beautiful one made by Pascal Dubois in French Guyane in 2002. These parrots live together in small noisy groups in treetops (I never saw more then six together). Ottema made a recording of the sound of a black-headed parrot in the Bakhuis area. They are fairly common in the forests of Suriname. Below a photo by J.H. Ribot, made in Walsrode 1998.

Each small square indicates the observation of at least one (group) of these birds, the medium ones at least 4 observations on different days and the largest ones 10 or more. The color of each square indicates: blue for coastal area, yellow for savanna and red for rainforest.
