Photo of a male Tropical Parula, made by Carl Beel in the Brownsberg nature park in Suriname in December 2008. The female has no orange chestband. The upperparts are mainly blue with a patch of olive (too dark on the photos to see). A bird of the higher places in Suriname and elsewhere. Searches for insects in the foliage at higher levels in the rainforest of places like the Brownsberg, sometimes together with a flock other birds and often as a pair. This is a very high sound of a Tropical parula, recorded by Otte Ottema also at the Brownsberg.
Each small square indicates the observation of at least one (group) of these birds, the medium ones at least 4 observations on different days and the largest ones 10 or more. The color of each square indicates: blue for coastal area, yellow for savanna and red for rainforest.
