Photo of a Swainsons flycatcher, made by Dennis Binda in Suriname in August 2008. Some of the Swainson's flycatchers in Suriname come from the south of South-America (Myiarchus swainsoni swainsoni ) and some breed here (M.s. albomarginatus). Both are rare. Then there is a (sub)species Myiarchus (swainsoni) pelzelni that is common on the Sipaliwini. Given that this family has some of the most difficult birds to identify on sight, you can appreciate that we do not yet know much about the birds. This photos seem to be made near Zanderij and I go for the resident one, mainly because of the black bill.
