Photo of a Green Ibis, made by Carl Beel in Peperpot plantation near Paramaribo in November 2008. The bird is dark green with a grey head. Unlike the scarlet ibis it is usually found alone or in pairs. And it normally stays within the forest near water. It makes its nest in a tree (Renssen found one in Dordrecht plantation) and it has dark green eggs
Each small square indicates the observation of at least one (group) of these birds, the medium ones at least 4 observations on different days and the largest ones 10 or more. The color of each square indicates: blue for coastal area, yellow for savanna and red for rainforest.
