Gray-breasted Crake in Suriname

Grey-breasted crake Gray-breasted Crake

The first photo baove was made by KD Dijkstra of a Gray-breasted Crake in its favorite habitat: wet places with dense long grass coverage. Then follows a photo, made in the birdcage at mr. Luchmuns home in Paramaribo (by R. Ribot). It is a very shy bird, so it is difficult to get a good picture of it in the wild.

Each small square indicates the observation of at least one (group) of these birds, the medium ones at least 4 observations on different days and the largest ones 10 or more. The color of each square indicates: blue for coastal area, yellow for savanna and red for rainforest.
