Photo of a Gull-billed tern, photographed by Carl Beel in August 2009 in Suriname. This tern has a conspicious heavy bill. In Suriname it can be found along the coast and a short distance up into the river mouths. They are around the whole year, but more are seen in the months March and April and August to November.
Each small square indicates the observation of at least one (group) of these birds, the medium ones at least 4 observations on different days and the largest ones 10 or more. The color of each square indicates: blue for coastal area, yellow for savanna and red for rainforest. The bird is present in all months in Suriname, mostly along the coast, in lagoons and ricefields.
