

Photos of a White-rumped Sandpiper made by Alexandre Renaudier in French Guiana in the ricefields near Mana and below two pictures by Dave Lauten in the Western USA in 2003. The white rump is clearly visisble in the last picture, made while Dave approached the bird with the video camera. This shorebird breeds in arctic North America and visits Suriname on its way south from halfway August till the end of November and can also be seen on its way northwards again from the beginning of April till halfway June.


Each small square indicates the observation of at least one (group) of these birds, the medium ones at least 4 observations on different days and the largest ones 10 or more. The color of each square indicates: blue for coastal area, yellow for savanna and red for rainforest.
